Makhmala- Velvets

Velvet is a type of woven tufted fabric in which the cut threads are evenly distributed, with a short dense pile, giving it a distinctive soft feel. By extension, the word velvety means "smooth like velvet". Velvet can be made from either natural or synthetic fibers. Velvet can be made from several different kinds of fibers, traditionally, the most expensive of which is silk. Much of the velvet sold today as "silk velvet" is actually a mix of rayon and silk. Because of its unusual softness and appearance as well as its high cost of production, velvet has often been associated with nobility.

The textures of fall and winter fashion are everyone’s favorite. From snuggly Sherpa to fuzzy faux fur, the comfort factor of these fun textured pieces makes them a wardrobe staple. But what about some of the other textures that is gaining popularity? From suede to velvet to chunky knits, the options are endless. Here’s how you can wear the velvets in winters:

Select a Style that Works For You: Velvet comes in all shapes and sizes, and by that we mean you can find velvet pants, velvet dresses, velvet blazers, velvet tops, even velvet accessories like clutches and crossbody bags. If the idea of adding the texture into your wardrobe gives you pause, maybe try an accessory first, see how you like it, and then consider adding a more statement piece like a blazer or dress.

Pick a Festive Color: To ensure your piece works for the holiday season, go for a festive color! You can go with something that is both appropriate for the holidays and also for most any other time of year is burgundy or black. The color is vibrant and bold, while still working with many other colors like pink, mustard and navy. Other great options would be a dark forest green or bright red.

Pair it with Another Texture: For all the winter vibes, pair your new velvet find with another favorite texture. If you are going with velvet bottoms wear, a silk top-wear will look great with it.

Accessorize: When trying a new trend, always be prepared to wear other items in your outfit that you love. A couple of rings and a favorite bag can help you feel more comfortable and confident, even if the rest of your outfit doesn’t!

Velvet can experience a variety of problems, including a loss of pile, flattening and matting, pilling and tufting, and shrinkage. Crushed velvet has a tendency to experience a loss of design and distortion from wear alone. Velvet items made of acetate pose special problems: the pile can become permanently flattened with moisture, heat, or pressure. As a result, the pile on an acetate velvet dress is more likely to show the effects of wear. Even greater flattening develops if the velvet is brushed or if any pressure is put on it while wet. Here’s how can you keep your velvet fashions looking beautiful?

Hang velvet garments in a well-ventilated closet after wearing them.

If a velvet garment gets wet, do not apply pressure, as this can flatten the pile.

Do not iron velvet garments. Hang in the bathroom and steam the garment to remove any wrinkles.

Clean velvet garments immediately after use.

Shake excess spills from the fabric and allow to dry. Do not blot or apply any pressure in damp areas.

Some of the latest colors you can wear for the winter festivities are:

EMERALD GREEN - One of the patent colours in velvet has to be green. Anyone who has ever worn velvet must have worn this shade at least once in their life. If you’re looking for a colour which would give a classy and regal look then you should finalise a dark green velvet suit or a classic green velvet suit for your big day. Be sure to have golden work done on it if you want a little oomph factor and look drop-dead-gorgeous for your upcoming winter wedding.

TRENDING BLUES : Still new to the velvet category, this colour is absolutely stunning if paired with the right shade and has the perfect embroidery done on it. Whether you’re thinking of donning it on your wedding day or your Mehendi function, your blue velvet suit is going to outshine every other usual bride’s outfit.

ROYAL BLACK : For centuries we have believed that wearing black is not auspicious and that to-be brides and newly wedded women shouldn’t even consider wearing black. However, times have changed and so many brides are open to donning this beautiful color on their wedding functions.

It is rightly said that there is joy in the simplicity - here we are relishing the minimal, as the line between comfort & dressing up intertwine with each other this season - we present you an everyday luxury.
